PTSA News.

Help Wanted - Treasurer Position Open!

We are STILL in need for a Treasurer!!!  If you have any accounting experience, and/or past PTA treasurer experience, please contact Linda Kawamura at tkawamu@msn.com.

The PTSA budget is not as intense as an elementary school PTA, or even a middle school PTSA budget.  There is little to no fundraising done, but as a non-profit organization, we still need to keep our records up-to-date.  Please consider helping us out!!!!  Thank you!

Next PTSA Meeting - Tuesday, October 6, 7pm, LHS Library

Everyone is invited!  This is a great way to find out what is happening in the school, and one of your last chances to be involved.

Reflections

The Reflections program is alive and well at the high school level.  The theme this year is "Beauty is . . . ".   If your child is interested in entering a work of art in the form of a drawing, painting, literature, photograph, musical piece, or other venue, entry forms are available in the school's library.  All entries must have a completed Official Entry Form, and must be signed by the student and parent/guardian.  Please turn in all entries to the main office by Monday, November 9, 2009.

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA student arts recognition program.  The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.  Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme.  Information and entry packets are also available online at:  http://www.wastatepta.org/programs/Reflections/reflect.htm.

LHS Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee Meeting, Sept. 28, 4:00pm, Career Center.
Interested parents and new members are welcome to come.
The Memorial Scholarship Fund is an endowment that was created in 1976 by a group of community members for the purpose of using interest earnings and other sources of funding to award scholarships to graduating seniors.  Since that date, $92,350 has been awarded to deserving LHS students.  A candidate for our scholarship is active not only in school, but is also involved in the community and usually demonstrates good academic skills.  Volunteers are needed to serve on the committee.  Committee members help with a fundraiser during the year, and review and rank scholarship applications.  Contact:  Lynn Desmarais   (425) 255-1189, e-mail desmarag@gte.net) or  Karalyn Pellegrini  (425) 204-3225, e-mail karalyn.pellegrini@rentonschools.us

The 2009-2010 meeting schedule is:  Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 30, Jan. 25, Feb. 22, March 22, and April 26.

WEB LINKS TO ATHLETIC INFORMATION

Below is information on how to access the athletic schedules and forms that are on our district athletic web pages.

Here is the link to the forms page where we now have high school sports clearance forms (including the new head injury/concussion form we are asking middle schools to use as well) as well as all of our sport specific warning letters:

http://www.rentonschools.us/Departments/Activities_and_Athletics/
AthleticForms

Here is the link to the sport schedules page where we post both the high school and middle school sport schedules (middle schools are on the lower half of the page):

http://www.rentonschools.us/Departments/Activities_and_Athletics/
SportsSchedules

Rather than having each school upload the forms to their own pages, schools will now link to our pages. That way, as we update the schedules or forms, the school page will be current as well.

To find these pages without the above links, you do the following:

1)     Go to the Renton School District home page at www.rentonschools.us
2)     In the menus near the top, just under the photo bar, click on “District Departments”
3)     Scroll down to Extracurricular and click on “Activities and Athletics”
4)     Once on the Activities and Athletics main page, choose the appropriate menu from the left side—Sport Schedules or Athletic Forms

E-mail updates are provided as a courtesy via Lindbergh's PTSA, and are not intended to replace regular U.S. mail, or written material sent through the kids. The updates merely serve as either an additional notice, or a precursor of things to come, and helps rally parents and promote camaraderie.  Please remember to ask for hand-outs from school, and read them!

Please remember to support the PTSA and Lindbergh Boosters Club - they are the main vehicles by which parents can keep informed and in contact with the school and each other!

If you want to be removed from the e-mail list, please e-mail me at sidekik@msn.com.  Please feel free to forward this to other Lindbergh parents, so they will know what is going on!!!

Thanks, everyone!!
Carrie L. Wong
Lindbergh PTSA Vice-President
